Thomas A Longbottom

Thomas Longbottom is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Baylor University. Dr. Longbottom received his Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas, Texas, in 1992. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Montana in Missoula in 2011. In 2013, Dr. Longbottom was certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy. His clinical practice has focused on persons with neurologic disorders, and he has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, home health, inpatient rehabilitation, and hospital-based as well as private practice outpatient care. Current interests include global health, and Dr. Longbottom works to inform physical therapy practice internationally including volunteering as in instructor with educational institutions in Kenya. Prior to coming to Baylor in 2016, Dr. Longbottom taught in the Anatomy department at Pacific Northwest University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Yakima, Washington. He taught in the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation at Baylor before joining the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2018. Current research interests involve educational methods and learning processes that translate to use on a global scale in diverse cultures and environments including in low- and middle-income countries and conflict areas. He is also working on investigating outcome measures and assessment tools used in neurologic clinical practice.
