The Baylor Scott & White-Baylor University (BSWH-BU) Neurologic Residency seeks to prepare residents for advanced physical therapy practice addressing neurologic conditions across the continuum of care.
The BSWH-BU Neurologic Residency program is designed to provide residents with a 12-month intensive study in the area of neurologic physical therapy, preparing the resident to practice with an advanced level of skill in the acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient settings. The program includes direct patient care, mentoring time, didactic education, projects and presentations. Residents will also serve as adjunct faculty for Baylor's DPT program.
Mission
The BSWH-BU Neurologic Residency seeks to prepare residents for advanced physical therapy practice addressing neurologic conditions across the continuum of care. Graduates of the residency program will provide effective, innovative, and compassionate care while advancing the practice of neurologic physical therapy. Both institutions offering the residency program are grounded in Christian principles and a commitment to excellence, while addressing the needs of underserved communities.
Program Overview
Each week, residents spend 32 hours in clinical care in Waco, Texas, with four hours per week of one-on-one mentoring. Residents also spend four hours per week on didactics (either in Waco or virtually). Additional didactic opportunities occur throughout the program to enrich the specific needs of the resident.
The resident can expect clinical learning experiences in the acute care setting, an inpatient rehab facility, and an outpatient neuro rehab clinic at Baylor Scott & White – Hillcrest in Waco.
