Dr. Germaine Ferreira serves as a Clinical Associate Professor, in the Department of Physical Therapy. She earned her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Texas State University and Doctor of Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. Ferreira studied homoeopathic medicine and surgery and practiced as a homeopathic family physician in Bombay, India. She has enjoyed working as a physical therapist in cardiopulmonary care, acute-care, and skilled nursing settings. Dr. Ferreira has been teaching in physical therapy programs since 2016.
Dr. Ferreira’s research focuses on heart failure, cardiopulmonary diseases, diseases that impact older adults, autoimmune disorders, musculoskeletal pathologies, and education. She serves as an item writer coordinator for the Federation of State Board of Physical therapy.
Austin, Texas has been Ferreira's home since 1995. She enjoys travelling with her family and has observed that “people are the same no matter where we live—we all have a heart, want to be loved and respected.” Ferreira has a passion for helping first-generation college students navigate obstacles and barriers to achieve success.
