Laurel E. Proulx, PT, DPT, PhD

Laurel Proulx is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Baylor University in Waco, TX. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, CO in 2013 and is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Laurel completed her PhD in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas, TX in 2021.

Clinically, Laurel’s practice focuses on pelvic health with a vested interest in prenatal and postpartum return to sport and pelvic pain. She has served as a medical consultant for Nike’s prenatal and postpartum programming within their Train app, contributed to multiple book chapters on exercise in the antenatal period, and spoken nationally about the musculoskeletal contribution to pelvic floor function in athletes. Laurel’s current research is focused on defining and intervening upon neuromusculoskeletal impairments in those with chronic pelvic pain, utilizing advanced imaging to understand the mechanism of extrapelvic intervention on pelvic floor dysfunction and interprofessional screening of athletes for prevention and identification of pelvic floor dysfunction.
