Laurel E. Proulx, PT, DPT, PhD
Clinical Assistant Professor
Laurel Proulx is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Baylor University in Waco, TX. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, CO in 2013 and is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Laurel completed her PhD in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas, TX in 2021.
Prior to her time at Baylor, Laurel was an assistant professor at Regis University teaching Biomechanics, musculoskeletal management courses, and social determinants of health in both the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program and the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Laurel has served as associate faculty with Baylor DPT and as a research physical therapist at Army-Baylor.
Clinically, Laurel’s practice focuses on pelvic health with a vested interest in prenatal and postpartum return to sport and pelvic pain. She has served as a medical consultant for Nike’s prenatal and postpartum programming within their Train app, contributed to multiple book chapters on exercise in the antenatal period, and spoken nationally about the musculoskeletal contribution to pelvic floor function in athletes. Laurel’s current research is focused on defining and intervening upon musculoskeletal impairments and muscle stiffness in those with chronic pelvic pain.
